What better way to capture the long summer days of my childhood at Twel-Adele Farms! I am inspired by this season of life when each day brought joy and new discoveries. This piece captures the heart and soul of a little girl’s childhood experiences.
The dress is hung on a vintage wood hanger which I used for many years when I was a young girl. Growing up on a farm, I always had chores to do. Mostly, however, there was time for simple pleasures, like long walks through the pasture to the woods, making dandelion chains along the way. The woods provided a wealth of opportunities for fun and for learning — endless games of hide and seek, paths to run along, and always something new to discover.
The dress symbolizes that time. Multitudes of exquisite paper-and-bees-wax butterflies, ribbons, and vintage faux pearls adorn the skirt of the dress. Yellow threads cinch the waistline. Wine and silver ribbons tied at the back cascade freely. The bodice has eyelet sleeves, yoke and collar. A poodle pin is tucked under the collar as a reminder of the times.
